    Abstract: This collection contains 18th and 19th century engraved tickets from the concerts, benefits and other events in London. Multiple artists are represented, but many include work by Francesco Bartolozzi.

    Scope and Contents

    This collection contains engraved tickets created from the mid-18th to early-19th century for a variety of music, dance, and social events in London and elsewhere in Britain. Many of the engravings were done by Francesco Bartolozzi (1727-1815), an Italian engraver active in London primarily in the 18th century. The bulk of Bartolozzi's engravings in this collection are of artwork by Giovanni Battista Cipriani (1727-1785), another 18th century Italian artisti. The tickets are for various events including concerts, benefits, lectures, and dinner parties.

    Purchased at Sotheby's, 4 May 1995 (lots 315, 316, 317, 330, 331). The originating lot number is included below for each item in the collection.
